Eircom is currently running broadband ads during halftime breaks of World Cup matches, urging people to sign up so they can watch clips of matches online. Fine, except we can't get any World Cup clips online. Reminds me of a few years back when the company ran an ad campaign with kids watching movies online thanks to 'broadband' (which was a 128k connection at the time)...
It's a bit daft all right. Maybe the ads were originally written for 3, cause you can get clips on their network but not on Eircom. ;-)
By the way it just shows how screwed up the whole broadcasting system is in Ireland where no one thought to provide (legal) online streaming of matches. But never mind online, its not even on FM radio. Is it on AM? It appears that if you are not sitting in front of a TV you cannot get a live commentary of a match.
Welcome to Ireland, please leave all 21st century devices at the door.

Someone has pointed out that Eircom is advertising its broadband on RTÉ Radio with the basic incentive of being able to download your favourite TV shows before they're on television; of course such a practice isn't legally available in Ireland... they wouldn't happen to be encouraging illegal downloading, would they?
Here's a link to the audio file someone on boards.ie put up:
