It seems that NTL has dropped its condition that new broadband subscribers need take out a TV subscription, too. This blog received a call from one of the company's telesales agents this morning advertising the cable operator's latest offers. Asked about the service's terms and conditions, the agent specifically pointed out that a TV subscription was not required. But its website is not clear on the matter, only saying (in the small print) that "if you are not currently an NTL TV customer, additional subscription charges may apply". It would be nice if the company has actually changed its position, as its broadband packages are cheap and fast.
NTL Broadband is pretty impressive alright, it's failing is a severe lack of availability; hopefully this is something UPC will put effort into remedying.
In my house we have NTL digital and are considering a switch of BB providers, if NTL was available here (Santry) it would be the first choice, their upcoming VoIP offer would certainly appeal to me too.

We're in Santry and have had NTL BB over a year now. So it must depend on what part.

the big issue with ntl BB is the super slow uplink speeds. what they also don't tell you is that with cable BB you receive the downloads of your neioghbours - its a multicast system, so with a wee bit of knowledge you can see what your neighbours are surfing !

That's very odd; I only rang them recently and was told the area wasn't active and I'd recieve notification when it was... hopefully UPC get the finger out!
