Last night on Today FM's Last Word, I talked about the reluctance of business managers to move away from O2 and Vodafone. I asked Matt whether he knew of any business contacts with '083' prefixes. I probably should have acknowledged that you don't have to have an 083 number to be a 3 customer, as the majority of switchers ask to keep their existing '086' or '087' numbers. Still, I'd say the percentage of businesses with 3 (or Meteor) is absolutely tiny.
I heard that interview on The Last Word yesterday evening and the thing that struck me, apart from the fact that consumers in the republic are being ripped off, was actually that the show was sponsored by Blackberry Pearl and you were both discussing the disparity in price between the Blackberry Storm in NI and the Republic. I think it lends a great deal of credibility to the show that it wasn't seen to pander to the show's advertisers, although in fairness the issue was primarily with the network operators. Unfortunately Richard Delevan learned firsthand the undue influence that big advertisers often have over journalistic freedom. Thumbs up to the producer!

Hadn't thought of that. Yes, that's a pretty good indication of objectivity.
