And here we go with another round of catchup in Ireland. While we're patting ourselves on the back for getting above 1Mbs, Virgin will be selling (up to) 50Mbs in British cities (but not the North) this summer.

I don't get this bandwidth dick size war. Who cares how much bandwidth I get to my ISP's BAS when all I care about is the bandwidth to the Internet. Are they going to claim that every user has a 50Mbs out?
This is the same nonsense as DSL contention ratios in Ireland. The figures are all rubbish and have no meaning to the end user.

No, they definitely won't claim everyone gets 50Mbs. My guess is that most of their customers will get around 20Mbs-25Mbs. Pretty pathetic, eh?
