Komplett has decided to drum up some business by offering free classes in building PCs from scratch. It's offering the classes to anyone, free, at its Blanchardstown depot.
Obviously, the outfit's rationale is that if you know how to build a PC, you're more likely to want to, because it's way cheaper. And guess who sells the components? You guessed it.
The classes are expected to be about an hour each and have no more than 5 people per class. The first one is on Saturday, March 14th, and registration is by emailing business.ie@komplett.com. (As far as I know, it's first come, first served.
It's a good idea, I reckon. I've just signed up.
Very clever!

great idea. They should get themselves a city-centre venue, though; Blanch is a bit of a trek.
In fact, I could imagine a saturday-afternoon hour-long class in a city centre hotel being absolutely jam-packed full of curious punters.
The Linux community used to hold "installfests", which were kind of the same concept applied to an operating system, and they'd often be pretty wildly successful.

Yeah. Quite easy to do and could build decent word-of-mouth, which Komplett needs right now.
I can't understand why more Irish companies don't offer this kind of thing -- some sort of free service to build up custom. The Americans do this quite a lot.
Because so few Irish companies offer it, anyone who does is bound to get interest (and some publicity).
