For those who were just listening to the piece on the radio, here are the apps I mentioned that are worth the downloading charges (some of them are free).
1. * Road Weather -- gives you updated daily road conditions on all Irish major road routes. Especially handy given the recent floods. Price: 80 cents
2. Fring for iPhone -- use free instant messaging with Google, MSN or Yahoo
3. * Dublin Buster Free -- all Dublin bus routes and information on stops. Price: free
4. * Grab Radio Ireland edition -- if you're listening to the radio on your iPhone or iPod Touch, this lets you 'grab' the details of the song that's being played and buy it straight from iTunes. Price: €5
5. * Ireland's Phone Book -- includes business and residential listings. Price: free
6. * Eirtext Pro -- lets you send free texts using your web SMS account (Vodafone, O2 etc). Pro edition lets you forward messages and add signatures, among other things. Price: €3
7. * Georgina Campbell's Irish Guide -- very extensive guide to restaurants, cafes and hotels (and country houses, castles, BBs) in Ireland, based on independent, anonymous reviews. Price: free
8. Sonar Ruler -- uses the measured gap between audible blips emitted by the phone and their echoes off walls to calculate the distance between you and a target. Price: 79 cents
9. Doom Resurrection -- best first-person-shooter game on the iPhone or iPod Touch. Price: €5
10. Skype for iPhone -- make free calls to Skype users, or low-cost long-distance landline calls
* Irish-targeted/created app
These apps are looking so useful. I may buy some of them. I want to know from where i can get skype for iphone ?
