This won't come as a shock to many. But Meteor looks like it will soon introduce a '3-Strikes' policy to its broadband customers.
Logical, really; the company is now an integral part of Eircom, which was the first of the big Irish telcos to introduce the system favoured by teh Irish music industry. For anyone unfamiliar with 3-Strikes, it means that the telecom firm will cut you off form your broadband service if the Irish music association (Irma) claims that you've been downloading music illegally. It's an extra-judicial measure that has raked up a lot of controversy.
Vodafon is another broadband operator that will, in my view, soon introduce the measure. After these two, there are a couple of smaller operators which will start introducing the measure, I believe. At the moment, only UPC and 3 Ireland are actively fighting Irma's initiatives.
